This article, “You Are What You Eat.” Is a healthy digest to learn the truth!

“You Are What You Eat.”- We are in a time where our health is jeopardized by the food we eat. If you believe the popular sang, “you are what you eat”, then you have to admit that when eating a hamburger from most fast food chains that you are in fact eating a cow that has been genetically modified in a lab and the environment they are cultivated in. Of course one would\\\’t want to eat something unnatural that may or may not have FDA regulated practices like steroids and antibiotics that would turn him into a human cow, right? Not to mention how research has shown that current methods of farming increase the chances of developing cancer and other diseases.

Healthcare expenses in the US. are the highest in the world, not implying that we have the sickest country but simply spending the most on healthcare. Unfortunately, the biggest factor that many scholars believe as the common denominator is our food. The way we process food is inhumane to our former ways of farming. For example, farmers apply tons of herbicide and pesticides to maximize their profits, not considering the dangers these substances cause to people. These crops cannot compare to the nutrients of pure organic grown food and their natural state. It is also important to know that the biggest contributor to pollution is actually the runoff water from the plants with contaminated substances like herbicides and pesticides. One could only imagine the long term repercussions of supporting this epidemic.

We have to stand for what we believe in and start informing our loved ones about this inevitable growing danger. Changing our ways of living is our only chance; assuming that society isn’t adapting to a sustainable lifestyle. There are practices and affordable gardening supplies that bring forth healthy food. Also, another intrinsic benefit is the low to no healthcare bills that one would acquire with this lifestyle due to abstaining from toxins. Thus, creating the single most important investment in life, health.

It’s very important for your overall health even if you don’t believe, “You Are What You Eat.” If you believe your diet reflects your mood just a little bit, then changing it would be one of the best decisions you will ever make! Mainly because health is number one. Without health we would die. So if you would like to live happier and longer, it requires only a small decision to change.
